Vice Chancellor of Cosmopolitan University of Abuja, Prof Carl Adams, has said one of the areas Nigeria has opportunity to shine is in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Adams who stated this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four international organisations in Abuja on Thursday, said the varsity is ready to support local communities and businesses that wants to engage in AI.
He said the MoU, which is to foster an environment conducive to cultivating digital and entrepreneurial skills among the students, will help empower students not just in AI but to make headway in their chosen career and society.
He said the partnerships will see to the establishment of Centre of AI, which will help solve the problem and push forward the ability of Nigerians to participate in the wonderful wave of new technology.
Prof. Adams said the partnerships are intended to prioritise experiential learning, equipping its students with the skills and mindset to navigate an ever-evolving landscape.
The University, which is one of the 37 newly approved private universities by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023, has been in academic operations for six weeks with over 50 students.
Adams said, “By collaborating with industry partners, we ensure our graduates are not just academically proficient but are also ready to make immediate contributions in their chosen fields.
“Our commitment to strategy and collaboration is ultimately a commitment to empowering the individuals who walk through our corridors everyday. Education is not merely a transfer of knowledge; it is the catalyst for personal and societal transformation.”
The four organisations are Cisco, a multinational technology company; Global Wissen Consult, which specialises in Digital Entrepreneurship programmes; Confucius Institute for Mandarin, which offers students the opportunity to learn Mandarin and foster cross-cultural understanding, while Across Atlantic Development (AAD), is a company dedicated to building a just and sustainable world by embarking on global projects and proffering solutions to business challenges.
