MOSCOW, January 19 (Sputnik) – More than 50,000 refugees have returned to Nagorno-Karabakh since the beginning of the Russian peacekeeping operation, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

“Overall, 50,002 refugees have already returned to Nagorno-Karabakh to their places of permanent residence,” the ministry said.

A Russian peacekeeping detachment is stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh to conduct round-the-clock monitoring from 23 observation posts, aid the return of refugees, and provide humanitarian assistance following the November 9 ceasefire agreement signed by the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
