OSHAKATI, 01 NOV (NAMPA) – About 150 exhibitors are expected to participate in this year’s Oshakati Totem Expo, Oshakati Town Council spokesperson Katarina Kamari has said.
Kamari told Nampa on Thursday the ninth edition of the expo will be held from 04 to 10 December at the Oshakati Independence Stadium, and aims to bridge the gap between cultural values and modern practices in society.
She indicated that preparations are in full swing for the hosting of this year’s expo and said exciting events are lined up.
“We are more than ready. This will be one of the most exciting Totem Expos as we have a new preparatory committee, new entertainment events. It is December and schools have closed, we expect nothing but the best,” Kamari said.
She added that they expect a lot of visitors and their safety is guaranteed as Namibian Police Force officers are expected to be on the ground throughout the event.
The expo was launched in 2012 and was initially held in an open area behind the Yetu Shopping Centre.
Vice President Nangolo Mbumba will officially open the Totem Expo next Wednesday.
