Police seek public help in manhunt for house robbery and kidnapping suspects in Letsitele

A manhunt has been initiated by the Letsitele police in the Mopani District to locate a group of unidentified individuals linked to a house robbery and kidnapping. The crimes took place at Rwanda Village in Polokwane during the early hours of Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba stated that the incident began when a 35-year-old woman was woken up in her bedroom by an unidentified male. According to reports, the intruder used a firearm to threaten her and move her into a different room.

There, she discovered a group of seven male suspects holding her mother and brother hostage. It is alleged that two suspects of the group were carrying firearms during the encounter.

The suspects allegedly robbed the family of phones, a laptop, and a router.

“They further forced the victim to unlock her banking application and allegedly transferred an undisclosed amount of money from her bank account using a card machine they had brought with them”, said Colonel Ledwaba.

Colonel Ledwaba further detailed that the perpetrators forced the victim’s brother to transport them away from the home in his white Toyota Legend 45 bakkie. After arriving at a remote spot, they ordered him to halt and escaped into the area on foot.

Before leaving, the suspects allegedly threatened the family with death should they report the matter to the police.

Police are continuing their investigations. Cases of kidnapping and house robbery have been formally opened following the report of the incident. Authorities are appealing to the public for any details that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects.
