Business tycoon Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala is expected to appear before the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday after being subpoenaed by the inquiry.
According to sources, his appearance may be subject to specific conditions, including a reported limitation that he will not be questioned on matters relating to the Medicare24 contract.
The sources further allege that during earlier discussions linked to plea negotiations, Matlala initially sought to be exempted from appearing before the commission.
It is understood that he later agreed to testify, on the condition that questioning about the Medicare24 contract would be excluded from cross-examination.
Spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels has confirmed that he has been subpoenaed to appear before the commission.
“We don’t want to get into the details of that,” he told the media.
IOL News has sent inquiries to Matlala’s lawyer, Advocate Hlamu Maluleke, and feedback will be added once received.
