BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) — The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.
CHINA’S EINSTEIN PROBE
China’s Einstein Probe (EP) astronomical satellite, sent into space in January this year, has captured its first in-orbit detection images, which were presented at a parallel forum of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum in Beijing on Saturday.
Inspired by the functions of lobster eyes, EP uses new X-ray detection technology to observe mysterious transient phenomena in the universe that flicker like fireworks.
FORUM ON PROMOTING UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
The Forum on Promoting University Technology Transfer opened on Saturday at the Beijing University Of Technology.
As the first event of its kind to be held during the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum) annual conference, it has attracted representatives of hundreds of domestic and overseas universities and enterprises to explore new models to enhance the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
The three-day Forum on Promoting University Technology Transfer has gathered more than 500 university sci-tech achievements. The event saw the release of a compilation of outstanding cases of sci-tech achievement transformations among universities.
CHINA’S SCI-FI INDUSTRY
China’s sci-fi industry saw accelerated growth in 2023, generating a total revenue of 113.29 billion yuan (about 16 billion U.S. dollars), according to a report released on Saturday.
The revenue represented year-on-year growth of 29.1 percent, according to the 2024 China Science Fiction Industry Report, which was made public at the eighth China Science Fiction Convention in Beijing.
Riding on a tech boom and the success of screen adaptations of domestic sci-fi literature, China’s sci-fi industry has seen rapid expansion in recent years. The industry’s 2023 revenue was more than 10 times the 2016 figure of nearly 10 billion yuan. Enditem
